Torpedo Gannet

The gannets are large white birds with yellowish heads; black-tipped wings; and long bills. Northern gannets are the largest seabirds in the North Atlantic, having a wingspan of up to 2 metres (6.6 ft). The other two species occur in the temperate seas around southern Africa, southern Australia and New Zealand. Gannets hunt fish by diving into the sea from a height and pursuing their prey underwater. Gannets have a number of adaptations which enable them to do this: no external nostrils, they are located inside the mouth instead; air sacs in the face and chest under the skin which act like bubble wrapping, cushioning the impact with the water; positioning of the eyes far enough forward on the face for binocular vision, allowing them to judge distances accurately. Gannets can dive from a height of 30 metres (98 ft), achieving speeds of 100 kilometres per hour (62 mph) as they strike the water, enabling them to catch fish much deeper than most airborne birds. Looking at the header, you might think that this post would be about chameleon but it is not! Here comes the arctic fox! This animal is also the face of my blog. Arctic fox lives in northern hemisphere in the arctic regions. It lives inland, away from the ocean. Size of arctic fox is similar to a domestic cat, weighing usually around 4- 8 kg . Being primarily carnivore, lemmings are the best choice for them to have for meal. They consume smaller animals like sea birds and fish. They eat vegetables, as well when they are available.  In summer time you can see them as a regular fox, with a brown coat. But in winter time, guess what? They change their coat to snow white color! This ability helps them for the best camouflage on the snow while trying to find food and staying away from dangerous larger animals in order not to be hunted.   Photo by  Jonatan Pie  on  Unsplash  (Photo by Eric Kilby,  https://www.flickr.com/photos/ekilby/43863665170 )

Welcome !

I believe people would be happier if they live in the nature with the creatures rather than living with the stuff that they created. Therefore, I decided to write this blog to celebrate the biodiversity of our planet and to share some fascinating and interesting survival skills of amazing members of wildlife members.
